The New Zealand Open is Back in Play!

After a two-year hiatus, organisers of the 102nd New Zealand Open are thrilled to get the largest event on New Zealand’s golfing calendar back in play for 2023.

Between March 2 and 5 this year, 156 professionals will be teeing up across Millbrook Resort’s stunning Coronet and Remarkables courses in a bid to lift the Brodie Breeze Trophy, first presented to the New Zealand Open winner back in 1923.

It’s the tenth year the event will be held in its unique Pro-Am format with paying amateurs paired with professionals in a simultaneous ‘best-ball’ format. Tournament Chairman John Hart is happy to be returning to normality after three years since the last major event.

“We’re committed to golf and the Queenstown community and, finally, can’t wait to see the tournament being played for the very first time solely on two distinct courses at Millbrook Resort,” says John.

Event underwriter Millbrook Resort has invested in a new nine holes enabling it to host the New Zealand Open alongside a renovated golf shop, new 1000sqm practice putting green and a new fleet of golf carts now housed in an impressive storage barn.

“The Coronet 18 is still very new to our professionals and will be a great test for them. It will be the first-time spectators can walk around the new course and see how they play the challenging new holes.”

Kiwi golfing legend Steven Alker, fresh from his win in the PGA Tour Champions season, will be joined by defending champion Brad Kennedy and an international field of up-and-coming
young players.

Sky Sport will broadcast live on Sky Sports 6 over all four days. Four hours of footage will screen each day along with an evening highlights package showcasing the best of golf in Central Otago and New Zealand.
