Powering The Future: How EAS And ATT Are Shaping The Next Generation Of Electricians

In the heart of Christchurch, Electrical & Automation Services Ltd (EAS) is proving that investing in apprentices isn’t just good for the industry – it’s good for business.

Founded by Andrew Easton, EAS has built a strong reputation in electrical services for mechanical projects, including building automation, energy audits, and smart control systems. But what really sets them apart is their commitment to training the next generation of sparkies through their partnership with ATT.

“We’ve had a lot of success with ATT – the business model works for us,” says Andrew. “You have the flexibility to take on an apprentice who’s not always ‘as green as a cabbage’ and the backstop to be able to hand an apprentice back to ATT if they are not the right fit.”

Currently hosting two ATT apprentices, Andrew sees real value in giving young tradespeople a chance. “The two guys we currently have on the team had been passed back by other companies … so it’s their disadvantage, our advantage!”

EAS also offers a unique service to the wider industry – automation solutions for other electricians. Because they don’t do general electrical work, they’re not in competition with most sparkies. Instead, they design and manufacture control panels in-house and provide complete automation packages, including diagrams and cable schedules, ready for installation.

“It is all done in house so that the team know what they are working with … we know it’s all going to be installed and function as we want it to,” Andrew explains.

For businesses looking to grow, collaborate, or future-proof their workforce, partnering with ATT – and working alongside companies like EAS – offers a powerful path forward.
