Louis Sharp

Louis began karting at just six years old and quickly rose through the ranks to become New Zealand’s most successful age-group karter by the age of twelve, securing more national titles and series wins than any young driver before him.

He made his open-wheel debut in Formula First in 2020 before stepping up to Formula Ford the following year, where he immediately impressed by taking pole position on debut and claiming two victories in his second outing.

In 2022, at just fourteen years of age, Louis earned a coveted seat in the British F4 Championship. Despite missing the opening rounds due to age restrictions, he finished fourth overall, claiming two race wins and twelve podium finishes. He also added the UAE F4 Trophy title to his growing list of achievements.

Louis returned to British F4 in 2023, capturing the championship title before going on to win the GB3 Championship in 2024, becoming the youngest-ever debut race winner in GB3 history and the first driver since Ayrton Senna to secure back-to-back British titles.

In 2025, Louis graduated to the FIA Formula 3 Championship with Rodin Motorsport, where his rookie season was highlighted by a record-breaking weekend at the Hungaroring, storming through the field to gain 29 positions across two races.

In preparation for his second season in Formula 3, the Tony Quinn Foundation awarded Louis a $100,000 grant to support his 2026 campaign in the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy (CTFROT). The four-week championship provided the perfect preparation over the European off-season, with Louis making an immediate impression by winning on debut. The Kiwi would go on to finish third overall in the championship and secure the Tasman Cup as the highest-placed New Zealand driver.

Following his successful CTFROT campaign in New Zealand, Louis has returned to Europe for his second FIA Formula 3 season, joining powerhouse PREMA Racing for the 2026 campaign. Backed by the Tony Quinn Foundation, Louis continues to compete against some of the world’s best emerging talent as he pursues his ultimate goal of reaching Formula 1.

The Tony Quinn Foundation was established in 2021 by businessman Tony Quinn, owner of Hampton Downs Motorsport Park, Highlands Motorsport Park, and Taupo International Motorsport Park.

The Foundation was created with a clear purpose: to support talented young New Zealanders with the ambition and ability to progress onto the world motorsport stage. Backed by a group of experienced and well-connected trustees from across the motorsport industry, the TQF provides support ranging from grassroots development through to financial assistance for elite Kiwi drivers competing internationally.

Today, the Foundation is recognised for delivering opportunities that are unprecedented within New Zealand motorsport, helping bridge the gap between national success and global careers.
