Lighting for Better Buildings: 30 Daldy Street, Auckland

At 30 Daldy Street in Auckland, lighting is doing more than illuminating the workplace. It helps shape an environment designed around the health, wellbeing, and performance of the people who use it.

Working alongside Mansons TCLM and Agile Engineering, Signify delivered an integrated lighting solution that brings together Philips, Pierlite, Kimbal, Dynalite, 3D Printed Luminaires and Roadway Lighting. The result is a connected, adaptable lighting environment designed to support occupant wellbeing while contributing to the building’s long-term energy and performance goals.

At the heart of the project is Human Centric Lighting (HCL), supporting the building’s WELL Building requirements and its Circadian Lighting Design feature. More than 2,500 Philips PowerBalance Tunable White luminaires, capable of adjusting from 2700K to 6500K, have been installed throughout the office. Combined with advanced BioUp LED chip technology, the system enhances the cyan spectrum of light to deliver the required Melanopic Daylight Equivalent lux without relying heavily on cooler colour temperatures.

Intelligent Dynalite lighting controls allow the lighting environment to dynamically respond to the natural rhythm of daylight, creating a more comfortable experience throughout the working day. By aligning artificial light more closely with the body’s natural circadian rhythm, the design aims to support healthier sleep patterns and overall wellbeing.

The approach is complemented by intelligent controls, energy-efficient technologies, and thoughtfully integrated luminaires, demonstrating how lighting can contribute to a building’s broader sustainability and performance objectives.

Recognised with WELL Building Pre-certification, alongside 6 Green Star and NABERSNZ performance ratings, 30 Daldy Street demonstrates what is possible when innovation and people-centered design come together.

It is a powerful example of how lighting can move beyond function – to help create healthier, more sustainable and future-focused spaces for people to thrive.
