The New Zealand Open heads back to Queenstown

Organisers of the 103rd New Zealand Open presented by Sky Sport are looking forward to welcoming players and spectators to Queenstown for the largest event on New Zealand’s golfing calendar.

Between February 29 and March 3, 2024, professionals from New Zealand, Australia, Asia and beyond will tee up across Millbrook Resort’s outstanding Coronet and Remarkables courses in a bid to lift the Brodie Breeze Trophy, first presented to the New Zealand Open winner back in 1923.

It’s the 11th year the event will be held in its unique Pro-Am format with qualified amateurs paired with professionals in a simultaneous ‘best-ball’ format as they play for the New Zealand Pro-Am Championship.

Queenstown has hosted the iconic New Zealand Open since 2007 and Tournament Chairman John Hart is always happy to return to Queenstown and Millbrook’s two distinct world-class championship courses.

Millbrook Resort is the event under-writer and continues to invest heavily in the event. In the past three years or so it has launched its new nine holes (the Coronet Nine) which means it has capacity to host all four days of the tournament. It also boasts a renovated golf shop, new 1000sqm practice putting green, new driving range facility and a new fleet of golf carts.

Major Championship winners over the years to play in the New Zealand Open include Tiger Woods, Sir Bob Charles, Michael Campbell, Geoff Ogilvy, Y.E.Yang and K.J.Choi. And of course kiwi stars like Ryan Fox, Daniel Hillier, Ben Campbell and Michael Hendry have all featured in recent tournaments.

Forty-eight-year-old Australian Brendan Jones claimed the title last year after surviving the cut, timing his run perfectly with a standout 62 on the Saturday and finishing his final round with back-to-back birdies late on Sunday afternoon.

For those wanting to soak in all the action in person while exploring beautiful Millbrook Resort, spectator entry for the tournament is FREE for all ages. Organisers are encouraging visitors to bring the family down, and enjoy some of the best professional golfers from across New Zealand, Australia, Asia and beyond.

Sky Sport will broadcast all four days of the tournament with LIVE coverage starting on February 29 at 3pm. Four hours of live coverage will screen each day along with an evening highlights package showcasing the best of golf in Central Otago and New Zealand.
